Sir Michael Caine was scared he would be bitten by a snake before shooting 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' in Hawaii.

The screen legend was nervous the local wildlife wouldn't be very hospitable on the island of Oahu before he and his castmates flew to the tropical location, but luckily he didn't encounter any snakes on location.

He said: ''It was hot and humid filming there, but I didn't mind it all, because I prefer the heat to the snow. I was more concerned about the snakes and insects, but there were no snakes and no insects, and I didn't get bitten once by a mosquito.''

Caine is part of a big name cast that star in the 3-D adventure movie, including Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kristin Davis and Vanessa Hudgens.

The 78-year-old actor - who can soon be seen in Batman sequel 'The Dark Knight Rises' - most enjoyed the scenes where his character Alexander Anderson clashes with Dwayne's alter-ego Hank Parsons because he can't imagine too many people would take on the huge wrestler.

In an interview with the Vancouver Sun newspaper, he revealed: ''I have a few belligerent scenes with Dwayne's character, which is always good for a laugh, because he looks like nobody would dare have a sharp tongue with him. But Dwayne was very nice, and I said, 'Dwayne can afford to be nice, because nobody would ever think of being nasty to him.' ''
