Tom Cruise has revealed there are plans to make a fifth 'Mission: Impossible' movie.

The 50-year-old actor first played spy Ethan Hunt on the big screen in 1996 and after reprising the role four times he has no intention of retiring the character.

Tom - who most recently returned to the part in 2011 in 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' - insists as long as people still enjoy the films he'll keep making them.

He told Total Film magazine: ''I started 'Mission: Impossible' hoping I could make many of them. It's a character that I can grow with. At that time it was the most expensive film in the history of Paramount Pictures, and the first film I was producing.

''It's been pretty exciting. Seeing an audience respond ... to have that experience is really wonderful. I'll make a bunch of those. I'll make as many as people want to see ... because they're very challenging, and so much fun to make.''

The Hollywood heavyweight also revealed work has already started to try and find locations for Hunt's return.

Referring to plans for a fifth film, he added: ''We're already working on different images. I love travelling around promoting movies because I'm always looking at different places, coming up with different sequences.''

Tom can next be seen in action blockbuster 'Jack Reacher' - which is about a secretive military policeman and is based on the novels of Lee Child - which is released in December.
