Tom Hiddleston set to star in "Capa"
Kenneth Branagh directs one of 2011's most successful films in this epic fantasy action adventure based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the title name. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor's father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) banishes him to Earth, where he's forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Thor's new home, he learns what it takes to be a true hero. Rounding out the superb cast of Thor are actors Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Rene Russo & Stellan Skarsgard.
Tom Hiddleston is set to star in 'Capa'.
The 32-year-old actor will play famed war photographer Robert Capa in an upcoming biopic, directed by Paul Andrew Williams, and is looking forward to portraying the ''heroic'' figure.
He revealed to ShortList magazine: ''I look at [Capa's] life and see it in heroic terms. A Hungarian kicked out of Hungary for writing against Fascism, he moved to Germany where he was kicked out for being Jewish, then he moved to France and from there began a life-long commitment to make a stand against forces of fascism.''
The film will begin in Paris 1935, capturing the moment where two exiled Jewish Communists, Gerta Phorylle and Endre Friedmann, start a relationship and change their names to Gerda Taro and Robert Capa in order to sell their photographs and Hiddleston is determined to do extensive research for the part.
He added: ''As a man he was fantastically charismatic, dynamic, vigorous, exciting and energetic, too. I plan to go to the places he lived, those places he visited, read books about him, study his photographs and, crucially, learn how he took them.''
The handsome actor scooped the role after 'The Amazing Spider-Man' star Andrew Garfield previously dropped out of the project. 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' actress Gemma Arterton is to play Taro in the feature, penned by screenwriter Menno Meyjes.
Hiddleston can next be seen as villain Loki in 'Thor: The Dark World'.
