Thomas Haden Church first introduced himself to American audiences via a re-occuring spot on the 1990's sitcom "Wings". Following this gig, he started to work in film, and in 2004 he gave an Academy Award-nominated performance in the comedy-drama Sideways. Three years later Church appeared as the villainous Sandman in Spider-Man 3.

In 2011 he starred in the dark dramedy/crime thriller Killer Joe as the character of Ansel. The film co-stars Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch & Gina Gershon.
