Edgar Wright is glad 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' wasn't in 3-D.

The director admits the movie would have lost some of its charm if it were made into a 3-D film because it would have increased the budget and lost some of its quality.

He said: "There's a couple of things in 'Scott Pilgrim' at would work in 3D, like some of the visual things. But there are so many shots in it, you'd be adding on another $20-$30 million in budget immediately. Even a rush job, it would just be impossible.

"The other thing I've noticed is that, when I've seen other 3D films, I'd hate for this film to look murky. It's so bright and colourful, it would kill me if it were like watching it a third of the brightness."

Edgar - who previously worked on UK TV series 'Spaced' and comedy movie 'Hot Fuzz' - also admits he thinks it is "strange" his film is now linked with Sylvester Stallone's 'The Expendables' because they were released around the same time.

He said: "It is kinda strange to me because people ask you about it all the time and the two films just get inexplicably linked. It's a weird thing because you look back at films released on the same day, you can go back on Box Office Mojo and look in the 80s and see 'Gremlins' and 'Ghostbusters' were released on the same day. It's crazy."
