Ryan Reynolds learned ''so much'' from Denzel Washington while filming 'Safe House'.

The 'Green Lantern' hunk believes the 57-year-old star is one of the most disciplined actors he's ever worked with, and he found him to be a great inspiration while shooting the action thriller.

He told CBS News: ''You learn so much from working with a guy like him. Not only is he a pleasure to work with and to see that somebody can be so passionate when he's been doing it for so long, but you see the kind of discipline that he brings. I don't think I've ever seen before. It's just in his DNA.''

Ryan stars as Matt Weston in the movie, which sees his alter-ego tag along with Tobin Frost (Denzel) when he goes on the run after his CIA-operated safe house is attacked in South Africa.

As well as learning from his colleague, the 35-year-old star learned some new choreography as the actors had to film the ''messy'' fight scenes themselves because the motion picture is shot close-up.

He added: ''The film is shot up close so we didn't have the luxury to use stunt guys, we had to do it ourselves. We had to do a ton of choreography. We had these French fight co-ordinators who brought such beautiful choreography to the movie and you learn that stuff because the fights are supposed to be quite messy and sloppy and mean.''

''It's harder to learn than

''When two grown men are trying to kill each other terrible things happen. You're biting each other, you're kicking each other, you're doing anything you can to get out of that situation.''
