Tribeca Review: "Out of Print"

"Out of Print" was the first film I attended and the Clearview Cinemas Chelsea in New York this weekend and I was quite happy with the film. Out of Print is a documentary about books, and digital media, and the effects it has not only on the economy but the brain as well. Documentarian Vivienne Roumani takes us through a somewhat terrifying, yet common idea of what is happening to the future as more and more children no longer reading full books, just quick snippets of information.
The film contains interviews from several people including: Scott Turow, Ray Bradbury, Jeffrey Toobin, Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, self-publishing success story Darcie Chan and many more. Of all the interviews I felt author Scott Turow had wonderful things to say especially when on the topic of authors making a living and how people expect to get their work for free on the Internet these days. I also enjoyed Darcie Chan’s story of how a self-publication can make your dreams come true.
"Out of Print" covers several other topics and all of the interviews burn with passion for knowledge, for our children’s future and the future of knowledge. If you are interested in any of these topics I highly suggest seeing this film.
