Parker Posey is to be the focus of a London film festival.

The Parker Posey Film Festival 2012 will take place on Saturday September 15 and feature screenings of her most famous films, including 'Party Girl', 'The House of Yes' - where she plays an unhinged woman who thinks she is Jackie Kennedy - and 'Scream 3' at the Hackney Picturehouse and the Rio cinema in Dalston.

Festival organiser Oliver Hancock said: ''Our day long festival celebrates the work of one of the most diverse actresses working in Hollywood over the last 20 years. We hope to celebrate her work and hope the festival attracts a new audience and long term fans alike.''

The event takes place in conjunction with Scala Beyond, a six-week UK film season dedicated to all types of cinema, running from August 18 to September 29.

Parker - known as ''Queen of the Indies'' for her films - began her career as a cheerleader in 1993's 'Dazed and Confused' before staring in 'Party Girl' and dog-themed film 'Best In Show'.

In recent years she has appeared in 'Superman Returns' and 'The Sweetest Thing' and made a successful move into TV on series including 'The Big C' and 'The Return of Jezebel James'.
