Stephen Graham tried to wind up his co-stars on the latest 'Pirates of the Caribbean' set.

The 'Boardwalk Empire' actor became good friends with Johnny Depp in 2009 when they both appeared in movie 'Public Enemies' - and they would try to ruin each other's scenes while filming 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'.

Stephen told The Times: "We'd try to make each other laugh while we were shooting scenes. Johnny's really good at looking at you in a funny way and making you crack, but he very, very rarely gets caught out himself.

"But this one time, I got him. I suddenly popped my head up beside his when he wasn't looking and said my line. He wasn't happy about it, but I was absolutely buzzing afterwards."

Stephen plays a sailor called Scrum - who is Captain Jack Sparrow's (Johnny) sidekick - in the film, which is set to be released on Wednesday (18.05.11).

And the Liverpudlian father of two also counts 'Inception' star Leonardo DiCaprio - who he worked with on Martin Scorsese's 'Gangs of New York' - as a great showbiz mate.

He added: "I've known Leo for a long time now and we're very close, and he's very close with my missus and my family and stuff.

"When I go over there, that's where I stay, same as if you and I had been friends for 10 years and you were coming up here, you'd give me a bell and say, 'Can I stay at yours?' Yeah! Not a problem!"
