Jason Bateman's ID Theft

August 16th, 2011

Jason Bateman is attached to star in new comedy 'ID Theft'.

The 'Horrible Bosses' star had been due to appear in the film - which sees a guy get his identity stolen by another man - opposite another actor but was so impressed with Melissa McCarthy's performance in 'Bridesmaids', he persuaded movie chiefs to cast her as the fraudster instead.

Jason will produce the film, along with Scott Stuber, while 'The Pursuit of Happyness' writer Steve Conrad is penning the script assisted by Craig Mazin.

No director has yet been attached to the project but shooting is scheduled to begin in April 2012.

While he will produce 'ID Theft', Jason recently spoke of his desire to direct more films.

He said: "Directing is the job I would most like to do because it would allow me to exercise all the things that I've learned all these years. It's just ultimately much, much more challenging and I'm at a place in my life where I'm just very eager to challenge myself more.

"I'm not feeling lazy or lethargic or that I want to wind things down. I'm more ambitious than I've ever been and feel more excited to contribute creatively than I ever have."
