Andie MacDowell has landed a role in the 'Footloose' remake.

The 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' actress will play Dennis Quaid's wife Vi in the movie, the second time she has played his spouse after working with him on the Emmy-nominated movie 'Dinner with Friends'.

The pair will play parents to central character Ariel - portrayed by dancer Julianne Hough, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Little-known actor Kenny Wormald plays Ren McCormack in the movie.

He is the third actor to be bestowed with the role - both Zac Efron and Chace Crawford have previously walked out of the project, as did the first-choice director Kenny Ortega.

Production is due to begin soon ahead of an April 2011 release date.

MacDowell has had a quiet career in recent years, working on TV movies including 'The Front' and 'Riding the Bus with My Sister'.

She will next be seen in sports movie 'The 5th Quarter' alongside Ryan Merriman and Aidan Quinn.
