Gary Oldman is set to star as a villain in 'Motor City'.

The 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' actor is in talks to take on a role alongside Dominic Cooper and Amber Heard in the movie which tells the story of a small time criminal (Cooper) who upon his release from prison after being framed vows revenge and tries to win back the woman he loves (Heard).

Gary will play the role of the shady kingpin who has control over Amber's character.

The revenge thriller is being directed by Albert Hughes from a script by Chad St. John. Joel Silver and Andrew Rona are producing while Douglas Urbanski and Ethan Erwin are executive producers.

The movie is set to start shooting in Berlin in April.

Gary has been nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role as George Smiley in 'Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy' but admitted he was worried about taking on the role in the remake of the TV show because at 53 he thought he was too young.

He explained: ''I am old enough to remember the series when it was first shown. Obviously, Alec Guinness made such a mark playing it and carrying the face of Smiley. He was nearly 70 when he played and my first thought was 'Well, I am a bit young'. But it was Tomas Alfredson's idea to cast it younger across the board. I didn't jump at it. I had to consider it.''
