Sir Roger Moore has blasted the last James Bond film.

The veteran actor - who portrayed the iconic British spy in seven movies between 1973 and 1985 - criticised 2008's 'Quantum of Solace', which starred Daniel Craig in the title role, for its overlong shaky plot and heavy use of product placement.

He said: "I didn't like the last Bond film, it was like a long, disjointed commercial."

Roger, 84, also criticised his predecessor in the franchise, Sir Sean Connery, admitting he struggles to understand the actor's strong Scottish accent.

Speaking to students at the Cambridge Union last week, he said: "Sean is a good actor, it's a pity I can't understand what he's saying."

One person Roger is a fan of is Johnny Depp, singling the 'Rum Diary' star out as his current favourite actor.

However, he added: "I wish he would change his name to something I can remember."

Despite an illustrious career, the British star admits there is a part he regrets not landing - the title role in 'Laurence of Arabia'.

He added: "I'd have loved to have been as talented as Peter O'Toole."
