Sacha Baron Cohen is in final talks to star in Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'.

The comedian is in line to play a gambler called Scotty in the motion picture, which tells the story of a titular character's (Jamie Foxx) mission to rescue his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from her sadistic slave-master.

Despite the role being small, Sacha's character is set to play an integral role in the story when he purchases Django's enslaved wife.

According to sources, Quentin - who will write and direct the project, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell - is very keen on signing up the 'Borat' actor to portray Scotty due to his importance to the story.

Stacey Sher, Pilar Savone and Reginald Hudlin are set to produce the western - which is set to be released in late December 2012 - which will see Harvey Weinstein, Michael Shamberg and Jim Skotchdopole take up the executive producer roles.

Sacha's next film will see him star as a station inspector in 3-D adventure movie 'Hugo' - which will feature Asa Butterfield as the titular character, with Chloe Moretz, Jude Law and Christopher Lee also in line to appear in the motion picture - which is based on Brian Selznick's novel 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret'.

Martin Scorsese will direct Sacha in the project, which is set to be released later this month.
