"Kick-Ass 2" arrives in theaters on Friday, August 16. Jeff Wadlow's action-packed sequel follows the continuing adventures of Kick-Ass, the reckless and courageous vigilante. As it turns out, other concerned citizens are catching on to the masked crusader trend. Kick-Ass joins a group of roaming vigilantes, but a ruthless villain is out to spoil all their fun. And this villain has revenge on his mind. The film has an R rating for strong violence, pervasive language, brief nudity, and crude mature content.
"Lee Daniels' The Butler" examines significant events during the United States' history from an often overlooked perspective. Cecil Gaines is an African-American butler, employed at the White House. While working with different Presidents, Cecil has an insiders' view of the social changes and the tragedies that rock the United States. From the civil rights movement to Vietnam, current events have a huge impact on Cecil and his community. The film has a PG-13 rating for violence, disturbing images, language, thematic elements, mature content, and smoking.
In "Paranoia," Liam Hemsworth stars as Adam, who has worked his way up from humble beginnings to become a technological wizard. When he unexpectedly gains entrance into the upper class world, Adam thinks his fate has started to change. But he only has this position in exchange for corporate spying, an undertaking that is far more risky than Adam could anticipate. Mature content, violence, and language contribute to a PG-13 rating. Robert Luketic directs.
"Jobs" is a biographical film about the life and career of Steve Jobs. Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, the film features Ashton Kutcher as one of technology's most ambitious visionaries. When Jobs was a young man, he dropped out of college and seemed to be defying the traditional model for success. With his hard work and huge imagination, however, Jobs ended up changing the world. The biopic has a PG-13 rating for strong language and drug content.
"Ain't Them Bodies Saints" arrives in select theaters on Friday, August 16. David Lowery's lyrical drama focuses on Bob Muldoon, a young Texan outlaw in the 1970s. When he escapes from prison, Bob only has one goal. He wants to reunite with Ruth, his one true love, and meet the young daughter that he has not yet seen in person. News of the escape turns Ruth's life upside down. The film is not yet rated.
"Austenland" is a new romantic comedy about true love versus fantasy. Jane Hayes adores the whimsical romances portrayed in Jane Austen's novels. She loves them so much that she avoids any actual suitors, who can never live up. When single, 30-something Jane manages to land an Austen-themed vacation, she starts to realize that fantasies are not always as easy in reality. "Austenland" has a PG-13 rating for suggestive content and innuendo. Jerusha Hess directs.
"Elysium" stars Matt Damon as Max Da Costa, an ex-convict just trying to scrape out a living on the planet Earth. In 2154, Earth is a hostile place, rife with poverty and dwindling resources. When an accident leaves Max fearing for his life, he has no choice but to try and infiltrate the technologically advanced space station ruled over by the wealthy. "Elysium" has an R rating for strong bloody violence and language throughout. Neill Blomkamp directs.
"We're the Millers" is an irreverent comedy from director Rawson Marshall Thurber. When David has the chance to earn a ridiculously large sum of money in exchange for drug smuggling, he realizes that he needs a good cover. A stripper, a teenage runaway, and David's geeky young neighbor agree to pose as his all-American family. As it turns out, being a convincingly normal family is anything but easy. The movie's R rating is due to crude mature content, brief graphic nudity, pervasive language, and drug material.
"Planes" features the voice talents of Dane Cook, Val Kilmer, and John Cleese. Before Dusty can fulfill his dreams of being a great aerial racer, he's going to have to overcome a very inconvenient fear. Dusty is terrified of heights. A grouchy older plane reluctantly agrees to be his mentor, but Dusty's real change of heart will have to come from soul-searching and a whole lot of courage. The film has a PG rating for mild action and rude humor. Klay Hall directs.
"Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" is the sequel to "Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief" (2010). In an attempt to save his beloved Camp Half-Blood, Percy Jackson bravely gathers his friends and heads off on a dangerous quest to the Sea of Monsters. His goal is to retrieve the fabled Golden Fleece, but he quickly realizes just how many obstacles stand in his path. Fantasy action violence, scary images, and mild language contribute to the PG rating. Thor Freudenthal directs.
