Chris Hemsworth 'the only man' to play Thor
Kenneth Branagh directs one of 2011's most successful films in this epic fantasy action adventure based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the title name. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor's father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) banishes him to Earth, where he's forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Thor's new home, he learns what it takes to be a true hero. Rounding out the superb cast of Thor are actors Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Rene Russo & Stellan Skarsgard.
Kat Dennings thinks Chris Hemsworth is the only actor who could have played Thor.
The '40-Year-Old Virgin' actress - who stars alongside the Australian actor in the Kenneth Branagh-directed action film - said she is "so proud" of Chris and believes he was the correct choice to play the iconic role.
She said:"There is no one else who could do it.
"He was amazing. I'm so proud of him. He's working so hard. And he is still getting beefed up for 'Avengers' because they're starting the movies. He's so talented."
Kat stars as Darcy Lewis - who is the shy sidekick to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) - in the Marvel movie, which tells the story of Thor being sent to live with humans on Earth after he is exiled from the realm of Asgard by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins).
Kat - who admitted she did not do much research before the film because she wanted to have a similar "clueless" view as her character - thinks audiences may be surprised by the humour in the superhero film.
She added: "The humour is sort of an unexpected twist. It really makes you so comfortable and excited. And the action just pumps you up. It's just so thrilling. And the performances are brilliant."
