Abigail Breslin lands A Virgin Mary role

Abigail Breslin will star in indie comedy 'A Virgin Mary'.

The 'Little Miss Sunshine' star will take on the lead role in the movie about a teenager who vows to have sex with her best male friend if they are both still virgins by the time they turn 18.

'Valentine's Day' actor Carter Jenkins will play the male pal, Keke Palmer is set to play her female best friend while 'Spy Kids' Daryl Sabara has also nabbed a role in the Beth Schacter directed movie, which has been compared to John Hughes' iconic 'Sixteen Candles'.

Black Sheep Entertainment partners Jordana Mollick and Brendan Bragg will produce along with Steakhaus Productions. Cotty Chubb will executive produce with filming set to begin on the film early next year.

This is the second recent grown up role for Abigail, 15, who will next appear in indie drama 'The Class Project' as a killer.

The film will follow a pair of sisters - one played by Abigail - who become so sick of being forced to endure living with an alcoholic mother and her string of abusive boyfriends that they plot to kill her.

Based on the true story, the film will be directed by by Stan Brooks from a script by Fabrizio Filippo and Adam Till, who adapted Toronto Star reporter Bob Mitchell's 2008 book 'The Class Project: How To Kill A Mother: The True Story Of Canada's Infamous Bathtub Girls'.

Filming is due to start this month.
